Lowden’s youth are educated in the North Cedar School District, a progressive school system serving students from Lowden, Clarence, Stanwood, and Mechanicsville. Affiliated with the Grant Wood Area Education Agency in Cedar Rapids, the district offers a balanced program of academics, fine arts, and athletics. Enrollment is approximately 900 students. Day Care & Preschool
The Little Home Learning Center has served the Lowden area since 1993, providing dependable day care and early childhood education. Licensed by the Department of Human Services, the center serves children from six weeks old through 5th grade. Programs include preschool, pre-kindergarten, before- and after-school care, and a summer program.Little Home Learning Center emphasizes hands-on experiences to support the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of each child. The staff is First Aid/CPR certified and participates in ongoing education. Non-profit facility.

Public Library
The Lowden Public Library at 605 Main Street offers a variety of resources, including adult best sellers, children’s award-winning books, videos, games, and research materials. Services include the Inter-Library Loan Program, a copy machine, microfilm reader, monthly story hour, and a summer reading program.
