City Hall is open Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
What are the parking rules during a snow emergency?
When a snow or a extreme weather emergency is declared, residents and business owners are required to follow the odd/even parking rules. On even days of the month, please park of the even side of the street and on odd days of the month, please park on the odd side of the street. This will allow public works to be more effective in keeping the city roads free from difficult driving conditions.
How often is recycling picked up?
Recycling in Lowden is bi-weekly – every other Tuesday. Please note: Occasional changes are required to pick-up service as business needs dictate. The City will post changed schedules in various locations – City website, Cable TV, City Hall, Lowden Post Office, Lowden Library.

What are acceptable items to recycle?

Does the city do an annual cleanup day?
No, the city does not hold an annual cleanup day. However, residents can arrange for a dumpster rental at any time for larger cleanup projects.
How can you get rid of bulk garbage?
You can rent a dumpster. Just complete and submit the Dumpster Rental Agreement below to the City Clerk at City Hall.
Who do I contact to rent a park shelter?
Contact the City Clerk Monday through Friday at City Hall for park shelter rental requests. Park shelter rental fees are $35.00 per day and are non-refundable.
What type of building work requires a permit and council approval?
Building permits are required for a variety of projects including not limited to the following:
Sheds, decks, garages, house addition, storage unit, new home, multi-residential building, pole buildings, barns, commercial buildings, water & sewer hook-up, fence, sidewalks. Permission must be obtained by Lowden City Council prior to any work beginning. Other conditions such as surveys may be required. Please contact the Public Works Director or the City Clerk for additional information.

When does the splash pad open and close for the season?
It opens Memorial Day weekend and closes when it gets too cold outside. Hours are 9:00am until dusk.
Are there any pet regulations in the city?
Yes. Dogs and cats (no more than four of one type per residence) must remain on your property and are not allowed to run loose or bark excessively in a way that disturbs the neighborhood. When walking your pets, they must be kept on a leash, and owners are required to clean up after them.
How soon do I need to remove snow from my sidewalk?
Snow must be cleared from sidewalks within 48 hours after a snowfall. If it is not removed in time, the City will clear it without notice and bill the property owner for the service.
What are the city’s lawn mowing requirements?
Lawns must be kept neatly mowed, with grass no more than six inches in height. If a lawn becomes overgrown, the City will issue a notice to mow. If not done, the City will mow the property and bill the resident accordingly.
As a courtesy to your neighbors, we ask that you please mow your lawn after 9:00 a.m. on the weekends.
Can I store junk or salvage items on my property?
No. The accumulation of refuse, junk, or salvage items is considered a nuisance and is not allowed on porches, around homes, or anywhere on your property.
Are there restrictions on construction hours?
Yes. Construction, excavation, demolition, or repair work is prohibited between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., except in the case of an emergency.
