Minutes: Regular City Council Meeting

Discussions

  • Mayor Lange made mention to the council about a letter that was received from a resident in regard to the garbage bins.
  • The council set the rate of the extra garbage bin at $60.00 for the residents that want more than one garbage bin on garbage day. If a resident needs three or more cans at their resident there will be an additional $7.00 a month on their utility bill for garbage.
  • There was discussion about wood chips or dirt being brought in to cover the sagr cells at the sewer plant. The mayor is to get bids for both options and we will readdress this at the next council meeting.
  • There was discussion about putting steel on at the North Park shelter and getting it to look like the recent work completed on the South Park shelter. Jane and David Hintz would like to get a bid and donate to the city for the improvement. There was talk about getting bids together for possible heat and air being installed at both shelter locations.
  • There was discussion about the city website. Michael Gandy approached the council about designing and upgrading the current city website as well as running it for the city as that is what he does for his career. Mr. Gandy is going to plan to stop at city hall and go over some domain things and platform options as well as look into the website agreement that the city has currently.
  • There was discussion about leaving the Public Works Department posting out for a couple more weeks to see if we got any more applicants. The city has received four applications currently.

Reports

  • Mayor Lange reported Fire Department had 1 call, EMS/Rescue had 10 calls.
  • Librarian Ann Harms was present to give the council the library report to review. There was discussion about health insurance for the librarian. Ann presented the council with some repairs that were needed at the library as well as some things that needed to be addressed in regard to the building.
  • Police Chief Jeremy Stenda presented the council with a report for the month to review. Officer Stenda also mentioned that he had met with the school superintendent in regard to the potential implementation of an SRO.
  • Public Works Nick Wichotoski made mention that he thought the roll out of the new garbage bins went well and was efficient. Dan Helm will be coming out this month to do some testing with Nick on the ammonia. Scott Kleppe did a walkthrough of the facilities and is presenting the council with a maintenance/service agreement as the current vendor isn't reliable. There was mention of getting a maintenance/service agreement from Mississippi Valley Pump as well.
