Minutes: Regular City Council Meeting

Discussions

  • Brad was in attendance with Kluesner Construction, Inc, to discuss with council the road heading out of town to the east. Brad presented a proposal for asphalt leveling and trimming the edges of roadway. Council discussed the project and will look into the funding for the project. A special meeting might need to be held if council decides to approve the proposal.
  • There was more discussion in regard to the City Website and the cancellation with Catalis. The city clerk will reach out to them in regard to the original response they gave to the city with cancelling the agreement.
  • There was discussion about a Meet-N-Greet of the new council candidates. The mayor was going to reach out to the Boosters to see if they would be interested in putting this event on like they have done in the past.
  • Council agreed to offer the Public Works Department job posting to Jasan Martin. Jasan would start out at $22.00 an hour with an increase to $23.00 an hour once he receives his CDL license. The same applies to the $.50 raise per completion of water qualifications. The council would like to see a contract regarding staying employed for at least 2 years after getting his CDL as well as with the water qualifications.
  • There was more discussion in regard to the library director receiving health insurance.
  • Council members discussed the two options that were received from Conrad Construction in regard to moving the current concession stand at the softball diamond for more storage rather than tearing it down as it is located where the new crow's nest/concession stand will be built.
  • There was discussion about some trees in the city that need to be cut down. Council members were going to drive around and look at them.

  • Approved placing cameras on the library building. There has been more vandalism to the building on the corner. There was discussion about a deconstruction grant for the building.

Reports

  • Public Works Nick Wichotoski made mention about getting the street sweeper from Mechanicsville for the streets. There was continued discussion about a couple equipment items. Kelvin will be doing water readings while Nick is on vacation. There was discussion about recommendations from Vista Sewer with some sewer lines needing attention. Leaf pickup will be starting soon so there was discussion about the leaf box that goes on the truck and thoughts of allowing residents to burn their own leaves.
  • Mayor Lange reported Fire Department had 1 call.
  • David Hintz reported that the EMS/Rescue had 4 calls and will be losing 3 members due to not attending the meetings per the bylaws.
  • The council received a library report from Library Director Ann Harms before the meeting.
  • The council received a police report from Police Chief Jeremy Stenda before the meeting. The mayor called Mr. Stenda, and it was discussed that Keith with Karl Chevrolet would be happy to help the city get the current squad car sold. Jayne Hintz was at the meeting to report that the charitable trust approved the purchase of the new squad vehicle for the city. The city clerk is working on getting a meeting setup with the attorney's, the police officer, the mayor, and the clerk of court in regard to the TRACs system for the city.
