Minutes: Regular City Council Meeting

Discussions

  • Mayor Lange announced that Kluesner’s will be in town to start the work on the road to the west going out of town towards P&K later this week.
  • Discussion was had about purchasing a new snowplow. It was decided to hold off on the purchase until next year when we can put it into the budget. An ad will go out regarding receiving snow removal bids for this year.
  • The city clerk contacted F&B about getting the domain forwarded to the new website for the city that was designed by Michael Gandy. The council discussed waiting it out with the current website provider and putting the ball in their court.
  • The council had discussion about the letter received from the library director in regard to health insurance. Ann currently declines health insurance. Rose and Ann asked for a meeting with council members and the insurance representative.
  • There was discussion about the smaller (35 gallon) trash bins. The city clerk reached out to a couple suppliers, but no one currently has smaller bins on hand. The council discussed looking to see if there was an option for residents at Menards. Public Works Employee Nick mentioned as long as they have a lip and a bar they would work with the garbage truck.

  • Approved Sidewalk Assistance Permit for Jason Conrad
    Ayes: All

  • Approved the purchase of light bulbs to replace the UV lamps at the sewer plant. Public Works employee Nick said he did some comparison and Trojan was cheaper than going through Bluebook. This will need to be completed before spring rolls around.

  • Approved the purchase of paint to paint the filter tanks at the pump house. Public Works employee Nick mentioned that they will work on getting them cleaned up and sanded down. It’s a good project to get completed during the winter months. Nick has reached out to purchase the paint through a supplier that specializes in painting water towers and other similar structures.

  • Approved Resolution #25-20 Setting pay for new public works hire. The council discussed the process and what the new hire was accomplishing to receive his CDL.

  • Approved Resolution #25-21 Setting the date and time for the public hearing to amend the budget FY26.

Reports

  • Public Works Nick Wichotoski made mention that the items he had for discussion at the meeting had already addressed.
  • Library Director Ann Harms was present and gave the council a library report. She made mention that the library welcomed 5 new patrons from their “Rubber Duck Hunt” event that is going on. The library served 55 families a meal, had games, craft and a photobooth during their annual Halloween Party.
  • Mayor Lange reported Fire Department had 2 calls while the EMS/Rescue Department had 8 calls.
  • The council received a police report from Police Chief Jeremy Stenda before the meeting.

Other Minute Items

  • Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
  • Mayor had no city or community updates to provide.
  • It was decided to wait for discussion of Resolution 24-18 and 24-15 till after the election.
  • Nuisances: Tom Nissen’s property cleaned up on Main Street. Todd Pruess has reached out to the city and got the outside of the building cleaned up and will be working with Tom to get it all cleaned up.
