Lowden is home to a variety of organizations that foster civic engagement, volunteerism, and community support. From service clubs to historical preservation groups and religious institutions, these organizations provide residents with opportunities to connect, serve, and participate in local life.

Lowden Historical Society

Organized in 1973, the Lowden Historical Society restored the old Lowden Depot, preserving a key piece of the town’s railroad history. The depot, reconstructed in City Park in 1977, serves as a meeting place and repository for local historical items.

Members meet quarterly at the refurbished depot to hear presentations of local historical significance on the last Thursday in January, April, July and October at 7:00 pm.

American Legion

The American Legion meets every fourth Tuesday for monthly meetings. Membership is open to men who have served in the Armed Forces during specific periods. The Legion Hall is available for parties, dinners, and dances.

American Legion Auxiliary

The Auxiliary is a service organization of the American Legion, assisting with wedding receptions, anniversaries, and banquets. They have also purchased hospital equipment available for loan to individuals.

Lions Club

The Lions Club motto is “We Serve”. Throughout the year, the club holds numerous fundraisers, with a large portion of the proceeds supporting the sight and hearing impaired, the Lowden Little League summer program, Lowden Lasers 4-H Club, and the Lowden Library. Profits are divided equally for local needs and designated state and international projects. Fundraisers include the annual pork dinner, pancake breakfast, Adopt-A-Highway program, Lions Lunch Wagon, providing workers for high school ball games, and the lemonade stand at Park Days.
